.40 S&W Load Data 165gr?!
I purchased some Nosler 165gr HP Plated 10/.40 S&W bullets that I got a cheap deal on.
Unfortunately I can't find load data for that particular size. I went to Nosler's site and found some load data, but nothing for this bullet and on that note only found very few data entries entries for any .40 S&W. Anybody familiar with Nosler's site can show me a link for their load data? I'm not sure what I'm missing but my understanding is they have a fairly comprehensive set of data for their products. |

Sounds good
But I get nothing but 2 folders overlapped with 2 tabs each. Each folder has a pistol cartridges and rifle cartrdiges tab.
Clicking the tabs does nothing 2 links on the bottom folder say >grain clicking on them both bring up empty tables of no data. Do others get a different experience? Looks like the page is brokes as I can see actual HTML code. Or my browsers broke. |

As long as you find some load for a 165 grain jacketed bullet and reduce the charge by 10% and work it up you should have no problems. I would consult 2 reputable sources for data though and possibly start with the lowest charge between the two for the powder I had.

You said plated, but my answer is assuming you really meant jacketed.
I don't know what powders you are considering, but the Hodgdon Reloading Data Center has 14 different powders/loads for the Sierra 165 gr JHP. IF, IF, the Nosler bullet length is similar to Sierra, then using the good reloading techniques mentioned, this can give you an idea for starting loads. The 165 gr in 40 S&W isn't the most popular bullet, so you are going to be limited in load data. Last edited by jepp2; March 4, 2010 at 07:06 PM. Reason: adding clarification |

With that same bullet.........
Nosler 165 gr HP here's what I loaded..........
bullet----------Nosler 165 “GD” HOLLOW POINT powder-------Bullseye 5.8 gr seated to-----OAL 1.120 chronied------FPS=1022 This was fired from an all metal full frame pistol with 4" barrel. This is just a statement of what I did.... depending on your pistol your mileage may vary. I probably would not put this load in a very small pocket pistol with a few plastic parts.
