I have a pre G2 easy open Contender frame.

Barrels.
22 lr
32 H&R with Simmons scope
256 Win Mag
Super 14 222 Remington
Super 14 223 with Burris Scope

When I posted about my first Contender purchase a couple years ago I was told I stole it, not bought it.
A G2 Stainless with a Super 14 35 Remington barrel, Burris 2-7 silver finish scope, 14" 22 LR Match barrel, and Boyt soft side case.......All for $250!
It shoots great with ether barrel, and I have added a Weaver 4X scope for the rimfire barrel. Also a T/C 14" 223 barrel, and T/C 2.5-7 scope.
To make it a true "hand cannon", I have added a 10" SSK Stainless 45-70 barrel to my collection.
My next barrel will be a 22 Hornet, or possibly 32-20.

I have G2 frame with two 14" barrels in .223 and 7mm TCU.

Both calibers offer very inexpensive shooting with range pickup brass and I have a lot of it.

Would like to find a 357 Max barrel at a good price.

Like many, I really got the Contender bug bad many years ago. I was buying barrels & pistol scopes through the Shotgun News at great prices. I also had buddies buying bigger & more outrageous Contender barrels & we had a blast shooting them all. Back then, if you were a handloader & had the itch for say a .256 Win or something, what cheaper way to play then to order a $100 contender barrel! Great gun & fun as all get out to shoot!

But after a while I felt like this really wasn’t my idea of a handgun, more of a short rifle. The cartridges were more powerful, the barrels heavier & longer & a scope pretty much a necessity to fulfill the rifle type cartridges. And a holster meant a sort of front-ways backpack! But if I hunted much with a handgun this would be my number 1 choice hands down!

After not shooting the Contender for a while, I decided to build a carbine. I ordered a 7x30 Waters carbine barrel & an unfinished stock. I fell in love with my Contender again! It’s a bit finicky off sand bags, but a great deer gun being light, maneuverable, accurate & easy on the shoulder.

The big Leupold in the picture is for load development only. The gun normally wears a 3x9.

I've got a 13" 357mag and a 15" 30-30AI on order with MGM. Like Lay's potato chips they are.

I've decided to become an exclusively handgun hunter. I bought my first Contender about six months ago. I only have one barrel currently and it's in 7-30 Waters. Eventually, I plan to build a small hunting barrel collection in:

22LR
.223
7-30W
.309JDJ

I might even pick up a .35 Remington to fill that gap between the Waters and JDJ, but I'm still thinking about that.

May I suggest that when you get your .22LR barrel get a 10" bull. Mine shoots like a 40X target rifle!
