Remington 870 Tactical question
I have a beautiful 12 gauge Wingmaster 870 that was made in 1986 and I'm interested in picking up a tactical version of the 870 for HD. Is my understanding correct in that the tactical 870s use the same Wingmaster chassis or is the tactical line of 870s based on the Express?

I think it's somewhere between the two. They have the plastic trigger guard of the Express, but they seem to get a bit more attention on assembly so they aren't as roughly finished (like no burrs in the chamber).

Wingmaster Express Police Rem makes an 870 Express in a "home defense" setup with extended mag tube. They also make a "Tactical" that is almost exactly the same gun, but with a different rollmark. Go here for an excellent description of the differences: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=1&t=177796 While at AR15 look for posts by "aippi". Very knowledgeable about the Police vs Express.
