Convert Savage 23 aa to .22 Hornet---

Could a Savage model 23 aa in .22 lr be converted to a .22 Hornet like
the model 23 d that is on the same action ?
Would the .224 dia. bullets work ok in the .22lr barrel ?

You could do it but it would not be worth that hassle. For the cost of converting that gun to .22 Hornet you could buy a brand new Savage model 40 in .22 Hornet. Have had a couple of model 23D Savage guns in .22 Hornet and both of them developed headspace problems.
