replacing an sks barrel

im getting an sks soon and im gonna fix it up into somthing nice. is there anywhere you can get a new barrel for it? perhaps a bull style barell? is it even worth it?

No it isn't worth it to re-barrel an SKS especially to a custom barrel. Can find someone to do it? I'm sure you could if you don't mind spending a small fortune. If you want to clean it up and refinish the furniture I'd say go for it but that is as far as I'd fix up an SKS. If you want a rifle that is highly customizable then save your money for an AR-15.

ok. they are just way to expensive to get a decent one. ive also been looking into getting a 10/22 as a good little plinker. i just want somthing that i can fix up and shoot around with. maybe a m&p 22? any other suggestions?

Maybe consider a Ruger Mini-30? If the barrel gets shot out, it's the kind of rifle that's worth re-barrelling. An SKS sure ain't worth re-barrelling. I really like my Mini-30. Reliable and reasonably accurate -

i do like the mini 30. what is better as far as a good plinking round goes. 7.62x39 .223 or 22LR?
