Pump shotgun question

With a 870 Remington or Mossberg 500 if you were to keep the trigger depressed and chamber a round by pumping the action, will the gun fire as soon as the round is chambered?

Pump firing

IIRC, no. I have an older Ithaca pump gun that will slam fire - supposedly. I've never tried. Doesn't seem like it would be a good thing to do to the gun.

Impossible with either the 870 or 500... both need the trigger released to reset the firing systems...

That first shot is to be considered either a warning so the bird has a chance or it is intended to "wobble" the bird with shaky nerves so he slows down for the payload of the second to catch up to him... BTDT but with bolt action .410...
Bet I could never get 2 shots off like that at 41 like I could at 12

No, more modern designs have disconnectors that require trigger reset before firing again. And don't try to mod them to slam fire, it'll just mess up the fire control group.

If you want to burn ammo faster with a pumpgun, get a Winchester Model 1897 (the 'period correct' Chinese clones will slam fire too), Model 12, Ithaca 37 of the original vintage, Stevens 520/620... those are all I can call right off the top of my head that will slam fire. Just be careful not to get anything you care about in front of the muzzle while you do this...

There are probably some that I have forgotten about but here is a short list of "slamfire" guns.

Winchester Models 1893 and 1897
Winchester Model 12 (Not sure about the 42)
Stevens Model 520 (possibly the 620 as well)
Ithaca Model 37 (older guns only; new ones have a disconnector)

I have an old Ithaca 37 police surplus with an 18 inch barrel on it and it will definately slam fire. I won $50 off my cousin because I emptied my Ithaca pump quicker than he could empty his brand new Benelli Vinci semi auto. He was amazed I was able to put all rounds on target, granted it was a big target at a short distance.
