SKS serial number identification help

Can someone help me figure out where or when my Chinese Norinco SKS was made? The SN on the left side of the reciever says "A1-17015xx" everywhere else on the rifle is says the SN is "015xx". BTW, this rifle has a triangle on the left side of the reciever, but it doesn't have any numbers or letters in it. Said triangle is to the right side of the "A1-1705xx" marking.

from the best of my memory, my SKS has all matching numbers, but given the plethora of parts available from tons of sources, yours could have easily worn out a part or two before you got it and had it replaced with another serial #.

original Chinese military SKSs will have a serial number that starts with a 2 digit number describing the year it was made. If you subtract 56 from that number it is the year the reciever was produced. That doesn't hold true for commercial models, From thr serial number you described I'm guessing that yours isn't a military production rifle.

Thanks for your help. I was able to figure out that the rifle was made in 1973 and that it was imported into Canada by China sports Inc. How it made its way into the states is unknown.

The "56" technique only applies to SKSs manufactured in the /26\ arsenal. You add the one or two digits in the "millions" place (12,345,678) to 56 to get the year of manufacture.

In your case, if there is no number 26 in the triangle, that dating method will probably not work.

Hardcase:
Thank you for your input, but I found out elsewhere online where and when it was made, not going by the ""millionths place" code.
