THANK YOU!!! You may have saved me!!

I have one of the 22A's in the range and will be sending it back ASAP.

No notice from the MFG, and the dealer I bought it from (October this year!!) said nothing as he sold it to me.

does the company still make a 22-S? identical to the 22A mechanically, just with a different finish or sights or something. i wonder if 22S guns are affected by the recall.

Nylon parts

I liked how my 22a shot but what a POS. The plastic or nylon part in the firing mechanism was a stupid idea. I bought the baretta 22 and sold the s&w, S&W sure screwed up a lot in the last decade or so.

Smiths "went south" when they were bought out years ago. I lived in a time when you could drive up check your gun in and have the custom shop modify it for you, some times on the spot. At worst drop it off at 8am pick it up tomorrow by 2pm. Not sure how it is done now I have gotten away from Smith's. We have friends that buy 40 cal and 45 cal pistols thru our shop and they seem to shoot well and work fine...

i agree; i bought one of those too and i still have it. i think it shoots fine, but the little nylon part was a bad idea. s&w will give you as many as you want for free; you just have to call. if i had it to do over again, i would have opted for the ruger.

I visit the Academy and Bass Pro stores frequently, and they seem to have them in stock all the time.

I don't think there is a shortage at all.

How can you find out if a used 22-A has had the recall work already done? A friend just purchased a used one.

Friend against my advice bought a S&W 22s.About the 4th time we had it out the hook on the back of the barrel extension broke, they sent it back with a sheet metal hook riveted in place.I told him i don't know what disturbs me more that it happened ,and they didnt replace the whole upper,or that they already had this "Fix"in place.A couple of months later he noticed a big hunk taken out of the feed ramp from a brass case?lead slug?Only thing i could tell him is you should have bought a Ruger MII.
