Felons Staying On A Gun Owners Premises?? Q&A

I had to deal with this for about a month a few years ago. Now a friend of mine is dealing with the same issue. I cannot seem to get a strait enough answer so I figure Id bring it here.

If your fire arms are properly locked away, inside of a garage, bedroom or basement. If you are the only one who has access to the key that opens the gun chest and/or Trigger locks ex. (or the combination to the safe)

Can anyone get in trouble? Either gun owner or felon?

Id read up on constructive possession
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constructive_possession

Im no lawyer, but I feel that you would be fine as long as you were the only one access to the locked rooms/safes/containers

If they can access where the guns are stored then they have constructive possession.

If they cannot then the law likely considers them to not have possession.

But I am no lawyer.
