Why no .460 XVR AR Upper?

So we've got .50 Beowulf AR15s and .50 AE uppers, both letting you hurl pistol rounds out of your AR... why not one for the .460 XVR round?

If it goes fast out of a 6" revolver it oughta go REALLY fast out of a 16" carbine right?

Maybe one exists and I just can't find it, all attempts so far have yielded no .460 XVR rifle.

Anyone else think this would be a good idea?

no offense, but in my opinion i think that an ar-15 chambered in a buck-a-round or more pistol caliber is the solution to the problem that does not exist...

The 50 Beowulf AR15s and .50 AE are rimless cartridges. The .460 is a rimmed cartridge.

^^ Gotcha.

Are there any rifle-length .460 throwers? What kind of velocity can you expect from them if there are?

I think some of the single shot makers such as Thompson Center chamber barrles for it.

Bushmaster makes an AR upper for their joint project with Hornady, the .450 Bushmaster, which is essentially a rimless .460 S&W Magnum throwing a 250gr Hornady XTP pill. TC and NEF both make single shot rifles chambered for .460S&WMag. And, I think I saw an ad recently for a lever action carbine in .460S&WMag though I don't seem to be able to find it right now. The .458 SOCOM is also fairly close to the same round. To be perfectly honest though, the 8.375" XVR pistol has the first 200 yards covered pretty well, esp. if you put a scope on it.

The .450 Bushmaster is essentially a rimless 460. Not exactly what you're asking for, but a lot easier than trying to get rimmed cartridges to feed reliably.

Anyone know what a .460 will do out of a 16" or longer bbl? Just curious is all.

Velocity from 20' Thompson Center

Note Should be 20" not 20'

I took my M2 Chrony out to the range yesterday, set it 10 feet in front of the end of the barrel and observed the following:

With a Hornady 240 Grain Mag Bullet and 46 Grains of H110 with CCI Magnum Large Rifle Primers in Starline Cases:
(reloading these for $.40 a round)
String 6
1) 2501.0
2) 2378.0
3) 2519.0

High: 2519.0
Low: 2378.0
E.S.: 141.0
Ave.: 2466.0
S.D.: 76.7
95%: ±233.4

The Factory SST with 200 Grain Bullet:

String 7
1) 2794.0
2) 2632.0
3) 2596.0

High: 2794.0
Low: 2596.0
E.S.: 198.0
Ave.: 2674.0
S.D.: 105.5
95%: ±321.0

For comparison the factory SST out of my friends 460 XVR:
(First shot from a cold barrel is slow out of all guns)

String 8
1) 1823.0
2) 2272.0
3) 2149.0
4) 2334.0
5) 2252.0

High: 2334.0
Low: 1823.0
E.S.: 511.0
Ave.: 2166.0
S.D.: 203.0
95%: ±281.8

I was impressed at how much faster the rifle is over the pistol.
For comparison my 300 Win Mag is only about 500 fps faster than the 460 and is shooting a 165 Grain bullet out of a much longer barrel.

Was there talk of someone building a lever gun in 460? Seems like I read that they were in the works somewhere but have never seen anything about them making it to market.
