ak date of manufacture

If the serial number on a Romanian WASR ak-47 begins with 1966, does that mean the receiver was manufactured in 1966?

So is there any way of telling how old the parts -- particularly the receiver -- are?

my WASR-10 has "1968" stamped right on the receiver, and it has nothing to do with the serial numbers. all my numbers match and they are something like 0021678 or something like that.

look for a triangle type shaped stamp near that date stamp as well.
