The Right Tools for the Job

I'm in need of some screwdrives of various sizes for simple firearms-related tasks. Nothing particularly serious, but the range would be from very small (for adjusting sights, for example the front blade sight on an early Colt Woodsman) to removing grips etc.

As you all are doubtless aware, a blade of the wqrong size can bugger up a screw head, slip out and scratch a surface, and so forth. Ideally I suppose a set of hanles with variously-sized blades would be the ticket. Local shops do not seem to have this sort of thing on hand, so I thought I'd ask here.

Your recommendations, please. And thank you.

I use a Magna Tip set I got from Brownells. Check them out, they have all different types of sets for just about everything you'd ever need. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=4...ER_SETS_trade_

Chapman also makes a few sets, and they come in a cases that are perfect for a range bag or box. They also have a great customer service.

I use a Wheeler set. It is good for the money, but if I had it to do over I'd probably go with the Magna Set from Brownell's as well.

They tout them as being gunsmith tools.

Imagine my surprise when I saw he same red-cased set at Wally-World.

The Brownells Maga tip set costs the most, but has the widest number of available sizes. Their thin bit set is a must for a lot of the double shotguns and Browning Auto 5.
The other bonus is that if you twist or break a bit, a call to Brownells will get a new bit sent right out to you at no charge. You don't even have to send the old bit back in. It pays off in the long run. as they are a lifetime investment.

+1 on magna-tips, if you're willing to spend a little more. Otherwise the $20 Pachmayr kit has a good selection, and the standard bits are hollow ground.
