Winchester Ranger 1300 20ga Mag Tube

Like the title says, I have a Winchester Ranger 1300 20ga. Had this shotgun for 18yrs now and finally interested in trying a mag extention. Currently its a 5shot with a 20in barrel. I want to add a 3 shot extension on it, making it a 8 shot. But I'm having trouble understanding something,

Are all mag extension tubes for the 1300 compatible for both 12ga & 20ga? Or do you have to buy one specifically for 20ga? Most ones I've found online just list them as 12ga. There there a couple sights that list it as both.

I'm trying to find one that is steel tubing and not the polymer type, plus I'd like to re-use my factory mag cap, if possible.

Any info you can provide would help...

Thank you

yes, the mag tubes are the same size/diameter...the things that change between the 20 and 12 are the some of the receiver parts and the length at which the mag tube ring is mounted on the barrel...defender type gun/barrels have a ring at the end and a long mag tube to match...shot and rifled barrels have a shorter mag tube and the barrel ring is more to the middle of the barrel...

hope that helps...

cheers

So the 12 and 20 tubes are the same. Okay, that's pretty much what I needed. I have a 20in with the lug halfway under the barrel. So only way I can get a xtension is in front of it.

Thanks for the input.
