686-5 New owner questions

I bought one this afternoon, and this is my FIRST S&W without a firing pin in the hammer, I have some Q's.

Having owned and shot dozens of earlier models what is the consensus on the frame mounted firing pin and any new innards in them from S&W old style revolver owners?

I bought it used, ($390) and just ordered a few HKS loaders for it. I looked at moonclips.com and for $100 (plus $4 each for clips) it looks like it WOULD be an option, has anyone done the conversion and glad / sad they did?

What parts beside the firing pin (and hammer of course) are different? Also, it's just a thought but has anyone wanted to convert one to the old style hammer?

The action is very good, but I haven't opened it up to see what a "GUNSMITH" may have done to it yet, the dealer wouldn't let me! S&W's of late have been just mediocre in this department, are the new plus models typically better than the previous generation? Are they as easily worked on than my older guns?

Thanks,

Gary
