.22 squirrel and target scope
What is a good scope for a .22 in the 50-60 dollar range?

For me, the Winchester 809 outclassed anything in the sub-$100 range, and gave the Leupold FX-1 (almost $200) a surprisingly hard run for its money.
That said, I bought a Weaver Classic Shotgun Scope on a recommendation here (thanks, sholling!), and I have to say: it would be a pretty fair scope at MSRP, but at its discontinued, clearance price, Natchez is practically letting you steal it. If you can scrape up the extra $30 (with shipping and insurance, my damage came to $93.73) I couldn't recommend that enough. It's parallax-set to 50 yards, same as any rimfire scope, and if it's built for a shotgun you know it'll stand up to recoil.

35.00 Simmons 3-9X40. Well made and clear--I was shocked at the quality. Wally is closing them out right now.

I've got a Tasco 3-9X-by-40mm for around $40, and it's held up well on the .357Mag carbine, so I think it would work well on a .22. More than that is for the benchrest folks. You don't need more than 9X for hunting tree-rats.
