Quick Question
I was at the reloading department the other day, and was looking for bullets for 300 win mag, and 30-06. All that I could find was boxes of .308. The question i have is...Do all the calibers that are in the '30's' use the bullets marked as .308? Thanks.

Yes - 300 Win. Mag & 3006 use 308 dia. bullets
Most 30 cal. are 308 but some are not, ( 7.62 X 54R, 30 cal Russian is an example, it varies from rifle to rifle, some are 308,310 and some are 312 dia. ) Check your reloading manual, if you do not have one, get one or two before you invest money in supplies you will not use |

Diameter-wise, the .30's all use the same .308 bullets, but bullet weight is obviously somewhat caliber specific. .30 Carbine won't work in any firearm with bullets that are larger than the loaded length of standard 110-grainers.
And you likely wouldn't load .308 Win's with 220-grain bullets. But yep, .308, .30-06, .300 WM and the like, all the same.

Attention Brass rats and other reloaders: I really need .327 Federal Magnum brass, no lot size too small. Tell me what caliber you need and I'll see what I have to swap. PM me and we'll discuss. |
