Federal "Classic" #1 buckshot or Winchester "Super X" #1 buckshot

Any of you shotgun afficionados know where I can buy (online) either one of the shotgun shells listed above? Or do they even make them anymore? Supposed to be one of the best defensive shotgun shells according to some but damned if I can find any. Thanks in advance

I've been looking everywhere, except online, for any kind of #1 BK. It's been impossible to find locally. Supposedly it's still made, just not a lot of it. If you find some let me know where.

I was finally able to find some online at Able Ammo and ordered 3 boxes. Will find out later whether they actually have it in stock-I found the Winchester Super X. Here is the link: http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/prod...ducts_id=73310. They are pretty close to where you live!!!

cheaperthandirt.com has winchester and remington made #1 buck. all 3 makers are available here at 2 of the shops i buy from. 1 of those shops has it for $3.98 a box.

#1 buck is difficult to find. I have read that Federal has stopped production of it several times due to lack of sales. It has become my load of choice for a HD shotgun. Most of the sellers don't stock it because most buyers have been drinking the "00B is best" kool aid for for so long they won't look at anything else. Whenever I find some I buy all I can get and it's usually been sitting on the shelf for so long it's been marked "Clearance" and reduced in price. 00B is perfectly good but I get better patterns from #1.

I have some Fed stuff given to me a while back. It patterns well, except every other shell or so has one or two really diverging flyers in the one shotgun I tried it in.

Spread otherwise, IIRC, was about 20" at 25 yards, not far behind the best 00 in that barrel.

Of course, YMMV.

I use 00 for HD, seem to be the best choice if things move outside.

Remember, every HD shotgun may need to be a Community Defense weapon also. We ARE the militia.

I just checked the Federal® website & they only offer 000, 00, & #4 Buck in 12ga. They do continue to offer the standard 12 pellet #1 Buck load in 16ga they always have. FWIW, back in the late 70's & early to mid 80's I was stationed in Virginia & hunted deer w/ Buckshot. #1 Buck was hands down THE BEST patterning load in 12ga. Back in the day, when #1 Buck was easy to come by; three loads were offered:

2¾" 16 pellets #1 Buck STD LOAD
2¾" 20 pellets #1 Buck MAG LOAD
3" 24 pellets #1 Buck MAG LOAD

Remington does still offer the standard 16 pellet load, #12B1 @ 1250fps. Winchester® offers two loads: the standard 16 pellet load @ 1250fps #XB121; and a 3" Mag load of 24 pellets @ 1040fps, #XB1231.

winchester and remington are the only ones still making and listing 12 ga. 2 3/4" 16 pellet #1 buck, winchester still makes and lists 12 ga. 3" 24 pellet #1 buck.

i did find a 8 boxes of 12 ga. 2 3/4" 20 pellet #1 buck federal classic in a shop last jan or feb i think. i managed to have just enough money on me to buy 2. when i went back for more the following week it was all gone. have not seen it there anymore. or anywhere else either.

Winchester:

Remington:

Looks like Natchez is sold out, it does seem to be harder to find now. I think we should see if we can find some #2 or #3 buck just for kicks :-)
