Buckshot out rifled barrel?

What do you folks think about shooting buckshot, birdshot or some sort of scatter shot from your fully rifled barrel? Harm to the barrel? Accuracy? Shot pattern?

You can do it, but it's not a particularly good idea. Lead shot will foul the rifling badly; steel shot will ruin the rifling. And the spin imparted by the rifling causes the shot to spread into a doughnut pattern - essentially, you'd hit everything except what you're aiming at.

Shot pattern will likely suffer as would accuracy since the shot load being pushed out by the wad is not meant to have spin imparted.
I don't know if the lands and grooves would suffer more loading than the plastic sabot would while being shot out.

i was simple curious one day at the range. so i decided to fire 1 round of 7.5 shot in my rifled barrel. i bet you are thinking what a dumb sob. but i had to see what would happen.

i shot at a pizza box probably 15"x15" i think at 15 yards. pellets all over almost an even spread of shot all over the box. took the barrel off and there was alot of powder and other fouling in it. took a good bit of cleaning to get it all out. tornado brush, phosphor bronze brush, bore cleaner. that was only 1 shot round.

would i do it again, heck no.
