Need info on 3 inch S&W 41 Mag 657
I have a 3 inch S&W .41 Magnum Model 657. Serial number ANK1xxx. It has a round butt grip, fluted cylinder. I have been told that it is and is not a Lew Horton. Can anyone tell me or how I can find out for sure? Sorry picture isn't that great.

S&W offered a 3" 657 in 1986 (which, by the way, your serial number dates your gun to) and a 3" offered thru Lew Horton in 1998 of which only 200 were made. Although yours is not the Lew Horton it is still a very desirable/collectable gun.

1) The Lew Horton thing doesn't really mean much one way or another. They're a big distributor and buy or commission some complete runs of unusually configured guns from S&W every now and again, but whether a gun was a special run for Lew Horton, Banger's, Ellett Brothers or whomever doesn't indicate anything other than what distributor initially sold the gun.
2) Your 657 was made in '86. The product code was 103951. Probably from the same run as mine (S/N ANE4xxx). EDIT: ...and I type too slow!

Thanks for the information. Your link was very helpful. Plan on look at your site often. I don't shoot it very often. It's more fun letting other people shoot it. Thanks, again.
