590 and 500 are the same I think. Any gun shop can order it up for you.

Whoa up a minute there. 8^)

Think about where the safety is on a 590.

Think about where your hand is when in a firing grip on a pistol grip buttstock.

What I'm trying to say is, with a PG stock you can't reach the top tang safety on a Mossberg without breaking your firing grip in the shotgun. IMHO that is not an acceptable situation, especially if you intend to use it for defensive purposes. YMMV of course, but it wouldn't be nice not to warn you in advance.

Good Catch Lee,

I statrted a thread about this several months ago.

One of the "user friendly" features of Mossberg scatterguns is the tang safety. Pistol grip stocks make this device very cumbersome to use. The benefits do not out way the costs on this one!

Good Luck & Be Safe
First, with the most, WINS!

Speedfeed makes their birdshead pistol grip for the Mossberg. Not only is it functionally superior to a pistol grip, it gives access to the tang safety.
Shooting it is pretty much identical to shooting a standard stock shotgun from the hip.
I have one on my Mossberg, and it is great.

I would start with midwayusa. I had a pistol grip on a model 500 12ga for a while. I got rid of it & went back to a regular stock. The kick was a little much. Now I'll take the 18.5" barrel with the full stock.

I have a PG olny for my 500 and while I must break grip it is fine as frogs hair. I also had the AR style stock and it too was fine for hunting, HD and target plinking. best of luck deciding what you want..
