SxS Question...

I bought my girlfriend a Stoeger Uplander SxS 12 gauge and we took it out on Saturday to blow some stuff up. We ran out of 3" shells (which the gun says it's chambered for) and I decided to see if the 2 3/4" shells would fit and shoot. They fit just fine and shot even better.

My question is, in a SxS, if it says it's chambered for 3" shells, will running 2 3/4" shells through it damage it in any way?

I didn't think so. But just wanted to make sure Although it's usually better to ask before you do something potentially harmful to your gun lol

The size listed on the chamber is the maximum lenght your gun will take. 3" shells are made for heavy hunting use. Go with 2 3/4" shells unless you are hunting waterfowl or turkey. Your shoulder and your wallet will be MUCH happier.

The shop I frequent has 3" Steel magnums for 7.99 a box. Not too much more than a box of 2 3/4" birdshot for 4.99 a box lol

Tell me about the girlfriend.

I've never met a girl that would let me talk her into shooting 3" shells out of a light side by side and still talk to me afterwards.

Those steel shot boxes might not be the same quantity. Many manufacturers sell steel shot in packages of 10 instead of the normal 25. If it is indeed a 25 count box, buy all you can and resell them to duck hunters when the season comes around.
