dating ruger firearms

Does anybody have a link for determining the manufacture date of Ruger hand guns.
I have done a search and so far I have not had any luck.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Ruger is like alot of other makers nowadays, you ring them up(800#?) and talk to the right person, based on how you ask and present yourself to the operator, and you can find out easily from them what year a gun was made. Further details cost money from several companies, though. Shortcut to a long net search sometimes but don't disregard the net either. I have called Ruger before and given a serial number and boom get the year. And also I think of other questions that are best answered by the makers, not someone passing thru a forum.

Nah, no thanks.

Now if she were a Smith and Wesson, I'd be available for a date Friday night...perhaps a first date of an evening at the range for me and the little lady? And maybe later, sit in front of the fireplace, share a bit of the Hoppes and get to know one another...

Visit www.ruger.com. Click on "Product Services" then click on "Serial Number History." Click on "Pistol" and then on the "Pistol Type." A new window will open. There you can match the "Beginning Serial Number" with the year of production.

Here's an example; Ruger Standard Mark I Pistol - 17-70981 = 1982.

Wow, I just found out the SP101 I bought last year was made in 1992. Sure doesn't look it.

That link came in handy for me too, thanks! My OM Vaqueros were made in 1997.

Dating Ruger Firearms.

I prefer to date women, but in this day and age, I suppose if you want to take a Ruger out to dinner, nothing will be said, unless you take it into a bar!!
