Guys with Dillon loaders?

Do you mount it right to the bench or use the strong mount to lift it above the bench?

My 550b is mounted to a length of 2x6 that I C-clamp to the bench when I need to load. My workbench is maybe 2" under elbow-high.

I have my Dillon Square Deal mounted on a Strong Mount. Works like a champ at just the right height for me.......................

I have both my Dillons on strong mounts. I can either use my stool to sit and reload or stand and reload.

As can be seen in the following 2 pics, I have my 650 set down directly on the bench. But then I load sitting, so a strong mount would mean I'd have to have the bench much lower to use it.

Whatever you use, make sure it's a really solid bench, preferably bolted to the wall or floor and of hefty construction.

This one is lag bolted to the wall, it doesn't even wiggle under stress from loading.

Having used both methods, I'd say I prefer the strong mount -- I reload standing up.

I have my 550 mounted on the strong mount on an old Heavy steel desk. This allows me to load sitting or standing.

I use a strong mount on my 650 - and I load seated on a stool.

You cannot set the 650 to manual indexing / but I don't know if you can disable it somehow or not - I haven't tried to do it or thought about it frankly.

XL-650 with the strong mount, since I like to reload while sitting. I could drive the front of my Ford 4x4 Diesel on the bench and it would not move.

my 550 is mounted directly to my bench which was built tall enough for me to work will standing. I considered the strong mount but I am restricted by a low ceiling in my basement reloading room which began life as a coal bin. take care.

I load standing up so I like them high, just be sure to make the bench strong.

I bolt my 450 directly on the bench as I too load sitting down.

The Strong mount on my 650 XL places the press at a perfect height for loading while seated . It place the dies about eye level which is best for checking operations and setting bullets.
Just curious as to why one would want to manually index the 650? you can take the advance ramp off and move things by hand but what a pain in the A$$!

My RL 550B is bolted directly to the bench, which is countertop height. I do my reloading seated on a stool. It works well for me. I also have a Lee Classic Cast press, mounted to a 2x8 which I clamp to the bench w/ C-clamps. That way, I can take it to the range with me if I need to.

I reload sitting on a drummer's throne. I don't need any additional height. I sandwiched two pieces of 5/8" plywood and mounted the 650 to the bench, using the raised plywood platform as a base. Works for me.

I prefer the strong mount myself. Like others have expressed, WHY in the world would you want to disable a perfectly good auto-indexing machine? If manual indexing is important, get a 550.
