not that I'm familiaer with...
seems like targets are about 35 40 ft away from firing line.
Shells are handed out by the sponsor and must be used. Closes to the X on a 8.5 X 11 poster ( construction type paper or light cardboard) Shoot-off if tied. |

At our turkey shoots, it has always been 100 ft shots, ten targets, white cards with a small dot in the center. $3.00 per shot. Closest hole to the dot is the winner. All ammo the same brand using #8 shot, furnished by us. You must use our shells and we must see you load the gun before firing.

I love turkey shoots
Here in SW Ohio the targets are 15 yards away. You use the provided shells and the closest to the center dot wins. I take my 11yr old step son to them and he shoots his 20ga single shot. They are a lot of fun for the family.

The problem with short ranges, 50 ft or less is the pros that haunt the turkey shoots with their specialized barrels. They can cut the post off and tear the target up at short range. Longer distances evens the playing field.
It is fun at any distance and can get expensive. |

Two shots at 30 yards is the norm around here. We shoot # 9s at a pine board with a centers cut with a sharp knife. Like this (+). We use specialized guns with bull barrels up to 40 inches long, scopes, bipods, and very tight chokes. Thse guns are capabel of putting 400 shots in a 5x6 board at this distance. Measuring the shot to center is done with a magnified vidiedo camera that measures in thousands of a inch. We take our matches here quite seriously.Wev'e come a long from shooting our old single shot squrriel guns here in South East Missouri.

I've never seen two that were exactly alike. AFAIK there are no "standard" rules, just whatever the organization putting it on comes up with, other than the "shoot what they give you" ammo rule and the standard "turkey shoot" target. Distance is usually what's available. Some have different catagories for "stock" vs "modified" guns, but most don't. It's run what you brung mostly.
