Pulling semi-wadcutter bullets
I tried to pull some semi-wadcutter bullets (45 ACP) with an inertia puller, but could not get the bullet through the three-part collet. (Round nosed and tapered flat nosed worked OK.) Anyone have a suggestion as to how to solve my problem? Thanks.

Use the press shellholder instead of the dinky little collet.

Bullet Pulling With Shell Holder
Thanks, Jim Watson from Alabama. I never thought of using the shell holder from my press instead of the "dinky little collet." The shell holder worker beautifully.
I received a email message from the manufacturer straightening me out. I was trying to work the bullet first from above rather than just pushing the rim in from the bottom. That worked also. Alabama! I was born in Birmingham, grew up in Greensboro, Tuscaloosa, and Birmingham. I attended and later taught at Birmingham-Southern College. My family settled in Ensley. As a young man I played first oboe in the Birmingham Symphony for two seasons. Where do you live? Thanks for your help. George Thomas, Alliance, Ohio |

Most of these are advertised as "quarter turn" collets and that you should not have to take the collet out to insert the round. I guess that only applies to roundnose, but they conveniently don't mention that. I spent my younger years in East Lake. Georgia Tech, TVA in Muscle Shoals, live in Florence. |

Overlap
I used to go picnicing and swimming at East Lake, fish in the TVA lakes, started teaching at Athens College, and have a friend who used to be the Methodist pastor in Loretto (Raymond Newel). Thanks again for your replies. -- George Thomas
