7.62x51 (NATO) Load....

....not .308 Win. I'm looking for a load that approximates the 7.62 NATO load in MV and pressure to use in my FAL. Anyone have a favorite?

I would suggest finding a Hodgdon loading manual #25. It has data for the 7.62 NATO using 150 to 190 gr bullets. FWIW, 44.0 grs H335 under a 150 gr BT will get you in the ballpark but is a max load at 2728'ps in GI brass. I use this same data for the 147 FMJ I plink with. For those that don't have a 7.62NATO, they won't understand the difference between it and the 308. But it is different.

I hope that this is helpfull, my favorite and most accurate load for my SAI NM M1A is a 168gr SMK over 41.4 grs of H-4895 in LC brass with a Fed GM210 M primer. The COAL is 2.80" and from my rifle the average velocity is about 2635 fps.

If I were going to consider a "stick" powder (which I wouldn't) it would be 4895 or 4064.

But since I have my very best accuracy and velocity from H335, and secondly, BLC#2 that's what I use.
