Remington 870 Marine Magnum..
I'm considering purchasing a Remington 870 Marine Magnum. What's the best ammo for it as a home defense tool?

Lots of different opinions from different people.
What you use depends on what your living arrangements are. I you live in the country far from neighbors, you can use anything. Live in a thin-walled apartment and you'll likely need to use smaller buckshot. These days, a lot of police and home owners are using the newer "Reduced Recoil" buckshot loads. These are still more than powerful enough, but reduce the amount of recoil that pounds you, and allows faster follow-up shots. Reduced or lower recoil shells are sold by most ammo companies. |

I'm in a single-family house in a residential neighborhood. Brick exterior walls.

ive had 00 buck shot go through a telephone book, and the bricks holding up the book. maybe for that reason, you should use 4 buck if your concerned with over penetration.
