MERRY CHRISTMAS: Got a Remington 870 Police Magnum

Wow, this was much more than I was expecting. I wanted a 18 inch 5 shot Remington 870 Police Magnum. I was expecting a synthetic stock one with adjustable sights as seen on the website. I am building a home soon and need a good HD shotgun as well as an occasional car carry weapon. I got a wooden stock 5 shot beaded sight Police Magnum 870 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells. This thing is NICE! Glad I didn't settle for a cheap Mossberg Maverick. But this...this is just too nice. NICE blue finish.

The serial # is AB1743##M
What year was it made. Anybody got any stories about these older type guns? The guy in Charter Country told dad that they didn't make those in 18 inch anymore but Police sawed them down to 18 inch. They didn't have them, but pointed dad to a store that did.

Actually, it appears as if Remington still makes an 870P, blued, wood stocked, 18" barrel gun, model 4899. Otherwise, I'm unfamiliar with Remington's model numbers or when your gun was made.

This is not an older gun. The "AB" prefix in your SN makes it probably not more than two years old.
