They are A&D FX-120i. The balance at the far end of the right bench is the same. I think they are a good 'mid-range' balance - much lower cost than some milligram balances, but they use a magnetic force restoration load cell which gives a fast response and reasonable drift performance. Plenty of warm-up time and a steady temperature helps to get the best results, but controlling air movement is key.

If all or most of your tools were mounted, including the vice, on an under bench receiver system, I'd need to give your set up an A+ with a STAR.

But, sad to say lacking that, it's only going to be an A+

I got to my hunting area a week early and started target practicing at long range and working up loads.

Next to the vehicle, I shot prone on the ground with a bipod and shooting mat.
I handloaded in the vehicle while sitting on a little kid's chair.

Just started into the reloading part of shooting. The picture of the reloading bench is a "in" work photo. The space between the 2 shelves will be a peg board and plastic bin storage. The 1st shelf will store the scale and all of the other odd and end tools needed. If there are any suggestions please feel free to let me know.

Reminds me of the steel frames I made for some gongs and planted them at a friends house.

Bill shoots from just out side his basement door, and the one gongs was about 50' or so down range and the other at a 100yds.

Guess the wife was worried about people coming to the house and seeing the gong hanging there.

Just flat tough!

My house, if I have a gong out behind, and wish I did, and you don't like it, tough. Same goes for the reloading room, which the wife calls the hobby room. It is the common area in which we spend much of our time - easy chairs/recliner/sterio/TV/ sewing/reloading, etc. Anyone who comes and is offended, is very welcome to leave!

But then, I'm just an Ol'Coot!

Would be glad to post images of my set up if I was smarter or had a 4 year old on hand to help me with the pooter.

However, if you google "Underbench Receiver System" you can see my set up that someone kindly put on the web awhile back.

Think he was likely much older the 4, but clearly lots more pooter savy then I!

Question for the DIYers. I just build a second bench as a GP work/reload/prep/gunsmithing(minor) area. Top is plywood. What would be a good finishing agent for the surface or none at all? Thanks

I used ordinary Minwax Polyurethane on mine. 3 coats of satin, then the top 2 coats are gloss. Gives a good mix between dull satin and ultra high gloss.

Because I had two layers of 3/4" plywood glued and screwed and solidly glued and screwed into the frame work, AND use the underbench receiver system for mounting all my loading tools, There are NO holes,cutouts, or slots in my bench top and the top is finished/covered with formica and the edge trimmed with solid oak to match the rest of the room.

This is a very smooth and easy to clean surface which doesn't allow dirt, grime to collect.

I currently reload shotgun shell in .410, 12 gauge & 20 gauge. Rifle rounds in .308, 25-06, and .243. Pistol rounds in .45 ACP, 9mm, .380, .357 Magnum, .32 Auto. I have two huge rooms to work in. One room is dedicated to antique clocks. The second room is about 1/2 for reloading and the rest for home projects and also a nice watch maker's bench for detailed watch and clock work. The pictures only show the one long reloading bench which has two Lee Turret presses, two old Pacific shotgun stations and a Mec station for .410.
