20" Rifled Barrels

I have a 20" Hastings Rifled slug barrel. How do you feel about a 20" barrel? What are some advantages and disadvantages to a 20" barrel compared to a 24" or even a 26" rifled slug barrel? Thank you in advance for your input.

I myself just got one of the same barrels. Only input ill offer is just my thoughts, not backing this up with any real info and am new to slug guns...
But i dont know how much more accurate you can get out of a shotgun slug gun. I just tried mine a couple times at 30 and 100 yds with open sites i was getting around 4" groups at 100 yds. Any advantage you get with an extra 6" of barrel on a shotgun would be minimal i would think. I doubt you would get any much more velocity, at least not enough to make a major difference shooting a slug at whatever you are shooting it at.

When i was after a shotgun barrel i was in it for something short with knock down power as I have some tac driving rifles and the big lever guns as well...
Like i said ive never shot some of the serious dedicated bolt slug guns that i know are very very accurate... but in my eyes slug guns are different animals altogether.

If you keep your shots within a 100 yards or so, A deer/bear/hog will not know what length barrel the slug came out of and it will make no difference at all. I have shot my 20" Mossberg 12 ga. at night with 2 3/4" shells. No fire out of the end of the barrel. This indicates to me that all the powder is being burned in 20" of barrel. Once all the powder is burned, extra barrel length does not matter.

Well thank you for making me feel better about my decision. I was worried that I had made the wrong decision, and you all agree that Hastings makes a great barrel? Thanks again for your help!
