Best pistol for $350-$400

Want either .40, .45, .357 Sig, or .10mm. I was going to go the Taurus 24/7, but I have read too many bad reviews.

Ruger p90 .45

S&w M&p .40

If you go used, you can get a glock or a sig for 400.00

The p90 is a heavy-duty, RUGGED, .45 Auto. It is 100% reliable, easy to disassemble and clean, and accurate. It is also one of the strongest Autos as far as using +p+ and such loads.

I reccommend ANY new ruger p series.

Ruger makes some tough and reliable guns in that price range. Not always the most refined, but they'll do the trick.

A used Glock would also be a solid choice. For about $50 more you can get a Springfield XD which I personally think is an excellent handgun.

I have a P89 and a P95 and never had a problem. What is the story with the M&P?

Is that budget new or used?

If new, I'd look at the Tanfoglio/Witness steel offerings, since you nixed Taurus.

Can you narrow the calibers a bit - pick one?

And what use / what size of pistol do you want?

You won't find an M&P even close to that price range, though they are very nice pistols.

I don't think you're going to find anything new that's great for that price in those calibers.

If you go for a used, your choices increase dramatically. Glocks if your hands are big enough. Sigs if they aren't.

buds guns has the m&p for 369.99 in 9mm and 399 in .40.

Rugers run about 339 - 400 IF YOU GO WITH RUGER GET STAINLESS.

there is NOTHING wrong with blue, but the stainless is only 50.00 more and worth twice that much.

I am up for anything. Used, new or anything in between. I would rather have .357 Sig, but I know in that price range that I wont be able to get one. So, I think the most logical choice is .40 or .45.

I am not against Taurus, just the 24/7s because there are so many mixed reviews. Is the PT100 .40 a good gun and choice???

I've heard good things. BUT, if you're willing to have e pistol of that size and weight, I would SERIOUSLY look at the RUger p90.

I think that the P90 is a bit more pricey.

Forgot to mention, you can get a CZ 75 for about $400 which is an exceptional gun. My mom has one with thousands of rounds through it (albeit FMJ) but no malfunctions. It's also gone extended periods between cleaning with no malfunctions. I don't personally care for it in my hand, but it is exceptionally accurate and many people swear by them. It's also been used by militaries around the world which speaks of its quality, durability, etc.

There's also the FNP. I've personally never even HELD an FN pistol, but I've had a FAL for 20 years or so. FN makes excellent weapons. I take it back, Ive fired FN hipowers. They were really nice.

Don't forget to add the shipping costs and the receiving dealer fee to an internet sale...oh yeah, if you use plastic, add another 3%.

Bud's deal will typically cost you around $50-60 if paying cash, for shipping and receiving, on top of the sale price.

Depends on your FFL.

Mine charges me $15 Buds is $115 for shipping I think.

I would look at the Wintness 10mm.

A 10mm, you run into the same problem as .357 sig and that is the price of shooting them on a regular basis. It can get expensive.

CZ40, I see them under $300 NIB. Maybe CZ75 in 40, might get for $400 NIB. Both are blued.

Ah, but I reload.

I got a Ruger KP89D from Bud's for under $425 including the shipping and my smith's FFL transfer fee. It's a mighty fine shooter. Built like a tank and has absolutely no failures no matter what kind of crap ammo or my reloads I feed it. (We won't talk about that one squib round what was MY fault). The KP94D in 40 S&W is not too far from your budget. The blued version is right about $350 before shipping and transfer fee. Did see a buy it now E.A.A. in 10 mm on GB yesterday for $299, but I don't much care for plastic guns.

The new Stoeger Cougar in .40, supposedly no different than the Beretta flavor save the spears and shields logos on the grips. They are going for $299-329 depending where you look.

You can peruse the various witness options here:

Rugged, that's a smokin deal at Bud's for the M&P in 9mm for $400 - wow! That's a very nice gun.
