I've got six more days of rifle season coming up right before Christmas and then after that hunt I can tell all of my secrets. Na not secrets just my mistakes.

1. one pair of gloves is never enough.
2. you can never have too many socks on.
3. if all you see is a head and neck, shoot it in the neck.
4. never forget your thermos!
5. a piece of candy in the bush is worth it's weight in gold.

I learned that even though the 30-06 turned 100 years old this year it still thumps deer as good as those young whipersnapper WSMs!!!!!

shotguna, you should def idendify the entire animal and not just shoot if its only presenting its head and neck. It may sound silly and 'it wont happen to me' but there are many stories of a guy carrying a deer being shot at b/c a hunter only got a glimse of the head/neck. I know it sounds like how can you mistake a dead deer being carried by a guy and a live one!? but it def happens. Not singling you out just saying.
