Hello, as my question states, I am interested in duplicating as near as possible the above noted load. The 9BP load is a 9mm 115 grain JHP (Hi-Shok) bullet. I would like to substitute the JHP for a FMJ for training/cost purposes, yet still maintain the recoil, POA, trajectory characteristics of that load.

The specs on the box say the muzzle velocity is 1160 fps. Is this considered a hot or even a warm load?

If anybody has any tips about what type of powders I should look at to, as closely as possible duplicate this combination, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello. Federal's 9BP clocks about 1130 ft/sec from my Brownings. You could duplicate it by loading a 115 gr bullet over about 5.4 to 5.6 gr of Unique. Best.

Best (available) 9mm powders: Alliant Power Pistol, Vihtavuori 3N37 (less flash than PP).

1160fps is, IMO, not warm. 1250+ starts to get warm.

I believe that 1160 fps with a 115 gr. bullet is pretty much standard for the 9mm. Not a hot load but it would be near maximum with the fastest burning powders. Here are a few of my chronograph results.

115 gr. FMJ 6.0 gr. Unique
Browning Hi Power - 1142 fps
Glock 17 - 1163 fps

115 gr. FMJ 6.9 gr. Hodgon HS-6
Glock 17 - 1179 fps

115 gr. FMJ 6.4 gr. Alliant Power Pistol
Glock 17 - 1134 fps

All these loads had an OAL of 1.138 in.
Hope this helps.
