Shooter's World/Arizona Tactical?

I am new to the site and new to shooting in general, so I'm soaking up info like water right now. My only experiences with a gun shop here in Phoenix have been with Shooter's World/Arizona Tactical, where I took NRA Basic Handgun. They seem like a knowledgeable, well-stocked store with a good range, but I haven't purchased anything more expensive than a set of muff-style ear protectors from them yet. I'd like to get some feedback from other previous (current?) customers before I drop a chunk of change on a pistol. Any feedback on these guys? Or if not them, anybody else worth visiting in the Valley area? Thanks.

They do have a nice place but they are a little expensive.
Theirs a Sportsmans warehouse in Phoenix and one it mesa , their prices are usually better because their such a big place ordering so much stuff.
Also theirs alot of gun shows ALL the time.
If you want a smaller store try Bear arms or X-Caliber which is about 200 yards from my house
Ever go to J&G , Prescot aint to far.
Mabey all ya need is a local ffl , whatcha lookin for?

I'm still figuring out what's going to be on the short list. Price is definitely a factor; for that reason I'll be looking at Glock and the XD pretty hard. Most of what I've shot so far has been .45 ACP, which I really like, so that's probably what I'll go with. Any suggestions?

Probably yes, yes, and yes--preferably in one gun.

Im not a huge fan of plastic guns but I do like my XD and alotta people like Glock's.
I guess Its what you can afford that feels good in your hands.
It dosent need to be small because here in AZ you dont need to hide it
I think your headed in the right direction. Do a search on H&K , Glock Springfield etc. and see what people have to say about them.
Then as your checking out different gun stores and prices you can handel them with a bit of knoledge.

I would also recommend Bear Arms in Scottsdale. Good prices, nice people. I've bought five guns from them over the years and always been satisfied with the price and the service.

Az Tactical is a nice place to buy accesories, a little pricey on firearms though. Try Phoenix Gun Center(19th ave & Cactus or Thunderbird can't remember which) or Scottsdale Gun Center(2505 n Scottsdale Rd), they are owned by the same guy. I purchased a Kimber Tactical Pro II from them almost 2yrs ago for $875+tax. They have some of the best prices around, and a good selection too.

Go to one of the Crossroads of the West gunshows out at the Veterans Coliseum. And pack a lunch! It's kinda on the big side. Lots of guns to look at, handle, fondle, drool over... and, heck, even buy.

Shooters World, Scottsdale Gun Club, et al, are great for test driving a gun, buy as previously said, sort of on the expersive side. I'll also throw in a plug for Legendary Guns in north central Phoenix. They were always very friendly, helpful and very reasonably priced when I delt with them.
