7.56/.308 Ammo Compatibility

If you have a rifle chambered in .308 win can you put 7.56 Nato through it? Or was it the other way around--if you have a rifle chambered in 7.56 Nato you can put .308 win through it...?

I think you have the metric designation wrong

but if you mean 7.62 NATO, then most rifles so chambered can fire both cartridges. There is a difference between a chamber for 7.62, and the SAAMI chamber dimensions for .308 Winchester. I have had no problems firing .308 sporting ammo in my SA SOCOM when hog hunting, nor have I had any problems firing Mil Surp ammo in my sporting .308 rifles.
