Leave the rest of the world alone and it will Americanize itself.
Interfere and you'll just create enemies unless you are directly defending America.

Well put! In a free market environment if what were sellin' is so darn good they'd be beatin' a path to our door. Free samples has it's upside but force feeding makes 'em gag!:barf: :barf:

I personally would be happy with just americanizing my town, then I will worry about the city, then the state, then our country and then maybe someone else. While I believe that we do have to keep others in check and try to gain and help allies, as well as fending off terrorists and whatnot. A generation of tomorrow with a better education and an economy that is stable, and a bette pride in one's ownself and country will ensure that we will be the example to strive for in the future instead of the one that is the laughing stock of the world. Everyone spends time critizing everyone else while offering few if any alternatives. I voted for Bush, I will admit he is not the best president we have every had. But at least he is trying to do something. Yes, there have been mistakes and errors. But he does not control the world. If Congress members could all get off their high horses and actual compromise on health care, education and a varity of other topics we might get somewhere. We have turned into this society where it's either-or, red-blue, black-white, republican-democrat. There are other answers and other solutions, but there seems to be some imaginary line drawn in the sand and instead of working on better solutions politicians across the board are trying to force you to choose one side or the other. This results in choosing the lesser of two evils rather than a solution that works. So how are we supposed to effectivly take this attitude and show to the world that our way is better? We can't. And although our intentions are usually good, we can't follow through on anything, because every term of congress and presidency comes with completely different standards and expectations. Should the rest of the world be free? Yes, Should we be doing it? Not until we can do it with a unified sense of pride and courage, to show everyone that we can help and all they need to do is ask. We are the most powerful nation in the world... That makes us responsible for a lot of what happens, But that does not make the world police force or the only source of democracy in the world.

Sorry for the rant, back to the point, Should the world be Free? YES Should it be Americanized? Probably not, unless you mean what we say we stand for and not who we actually are. They say the faults you find in others tend to be your own faults that are locked up inside of you....

Am I making any sense???

The Koreans here in Anchorage make better burgers than Americans. The world is already Americanized. Some just dont know it.

Go to Moscow or Tokyo and see examples

McDonalds, KFC, Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola....are already ahead of the game.

Lets Go back to the year 2003, I am rolling down the road to see some Uzbek customs officials in Uzbekistan. I hear the strains of a familiar western sound. As I get closer it is some guy in a street booth selling pirated Fiddy Cent CDs that have not even been released in the US yet

Take that you Muslim Fundamentalists

Man, sometimes I wish we acted a little less like Americans. Other cultures don't need 10 credit cards and surround sound.

I hope the rest of the world manages to become peacefully prosperous. You don't have to act like America to do that, and I hope they all won't. Travel is a lot more satifisfying if you don't have to look at Harley Davidson t-shirts in Marakesh.

Better yet, I'd rather reSouthernize the South, let the North rePuritanize itself back to it's old roots, let the left coast...repre1960size itself, the West reWesternize itself with a good does of orthedox Christianity in both the West and Left coast. Leave everyone else alone.

Eating them kagogi burgers again

Actually the Koreans make some mean southern fried chicken too. Last time I was is Seoul a bunch of GIs had to be put up at this ritzy hotel, We were on perdiem but the hotel prices were off the hook. Ee walked down the hill into a local neighborhood and found a local resteraunt, the kitchen opened onto the family dining room and the dining room for customers. That was in 1987...we damn near killed ourselves for about $4.00 apiece for all the fried chicken, french fries and coca cola you could handle. Of course the kimchee w/ veggies didnt help much The roomate said I was violating the Geneva Convention on Chemical Warfare

Just as long as George W. and Cheney do a few weeks convoy duty in the Sunni sector of Iraq in a soft-humvee.

Remember:

All men are endowed by their Creator by certain inalienable Rights...

That's all men. Everywhere.

And while yes, the spread of American consumerism IS contributing to the spread of capitalism and individual liberty, it should and could be promoted by all available means.

Yup. We need to shovel the crap out of our own backyard before we start shoveling in someone else's.

You missed the point...

It is having access to things we don't need that epitomizes FREEDOM!

It is also what makes America's economy so great...

It is also what is making the world a better place to live...

Just because the Amazon natives don't NEED a telephone... doesn't mean they wouldn't make good use of it...

I didn't miss the point. You might have missed mine, though.

America has problems. Social, economical, political and educational. Our fast food, buy on credit culture is an unfortunate out growth of prosperity, not a happy result. I would hope other cultures would see the problems we have and work to avoid making our mistakes.

Freedom is quite definitely not the ability to buy a 52" television. Even slaves can own property.

Maybe we should adapt other culture's cultures.

For example, Korea and Japan are more wired than we are, yet their educational levels and literacy rates are higher.

Some folks carp all the time about "freedom". Maybe they really mean license.

1. And women.

2. Not everyone believes in a creator to begin with.

3. Not everyone agrees that those are inalienable rights.
