Attaching sling to Marlin 36

I want to add a sling to my model 36. There are no existing studs or threads to mount swivels and I really don't want to put any holes in the wood. But I guess I will if I have to. What are my options?

My dad has a ballistic nylon swivelless sling on one of his Marlins. I think it's an Uncle Mike's but I'm not really sure. If you don't get any answers I'll try to get hold of him to ask.
We also have a couple of slip-on leather slings that are a universal fit. I haven't seen any of these in about a dozen years though.

I have a Winchester 94-22 which I used the clamping type of swivel on the magazine tube and put a stud in the stock. Works pretty good.
