boar in oregon

WANT INFORMATION. I've heard a little of feral pigs in the Cascades but can't find any site with more than a tagline claiming they're here. I live in the Willamette and want to hunt these beasts; cascades or coastal range. Aiming for food, not trophy.

Which load do you recommend? Will be using a 30-30.

There are some pig hunters guides based somewhere around Redding,
Kalifornica...

Maybe they can point you in the right direction for Oregon...

Also, check Red Bluff...

Local gun stores. Local seed'n'feed stores.

Are there any locally published hunting&fishing magazines/newspapers in your area? If so, tons of commentary and information.

Your wildlife agency folks also will have a lot of information about numbers, locales, and hog-habits.

Well aware of Kalif, but Oregon seems to fall under the radar. I'm talking somewhere between Eugene and Salem equatorially - several hundred miles from Redding with a much different climate.

I haven't found any good local mags. Only local gun shop is Big 5; have to go out of town for anything decent. I didn't even think of a wildlife agency. Duh! I know where the ranger station is and it didn't even cross my mind. Thanks for the obvious.

I don't think there are any confirmed populations near Eugene or Salem, but the following link has some good reading on the subject, and the Appendix "A" has a map of known populations.Good luck... http://egov.oregon.gov/OISC/docs/pdf/swine_ra.pdf
