Recent S. Dakota antelope hunt
It snowed 11 inches week before Tuesday but melted after 3 days. Plenty of mud everywhere. Made for difficult travel. Usually we drive a 4WD across the prairies and get out to hunt breaks and ridgelines. But this year was a lot of walking. Mud sticks to your boots and weighs you down.
But the 'lopes weren't very spooky and we all tagged out. I had a double doe/kid tag. Both 'lopes were buck kids, slightly smaller than a doe but short horns. I'll post photos if one of you fellas will point me in the right direction. For those interested in details: rifle: Remington 760 Game Master in .243 ammo: Black Hills 95 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip scope: Simmons AETEC 2.8X-10X distance to 1st 'lope: 175 yds or so distance to 2nd 'lope: 225 yards or so number of shots fired: 3 Jack |
