It is my understanding that there were some made (a modest amount, that is,) just prior to/during the Gulf War. However, I couldn't tell you which gov't. contractor made them. I served in the Army during this time and was still shooting the 14's.
The military still has lots of these mags new-in-wrap from the late 60's, unissued. We never had any of our old ones refinished. Springfield, Inc. refinishes the old mags now and charges ridiculously high prices for the mags-many of which have pitting visible up under the new parkerizing, as evidenced by a couple of examples which I have. |

You are correct ....I done some digging and found that Check Mate Industries (Long Island NY) made some prior to the Gulf war.
