Mossberg 590A1 Heat Shield
As many of you that have one are probably aware, most normal heat shields will not fit on the 590A1 for 2 reasons:
-will not slide over front Ghost ring sight -heavy wall barrel is too thick Has anyone ever heard of/seen a heat shield that could possibly get around these two obstacles? Steel preferably. I may just make a trip to the machine shop to make one if I can't find one. Also, if anyone has ever had hands-on experience with this problem, does it appear that a heat shield could be modified to fit? Yes, I DO KNOW that heat shields are not really necessary, but I would still like one. |

Why not use the factory Mossberg heat shield? $29 at Brownells. If the front sight is in the way it is removed by unscrewing.

The front ghost sight is soldered on. It does have a small insert that has a dove-tail type attachment. This would only give another half inch or so clearance however.
