Hakko Tacpoint 1?

I am wondering how good the glass quality of the Hakko Tacpoint 1 is (Aimpoint copy)? They sell for about $130.00 around here. Is the Aimpoint that much better($390.00), or is it, all SF/SEAL use em, so I, Joe civilan has to have one! I mean I carried a M9 in the Army, they are not as great as everyone think they are. Could it be, just america wants to carry what the soldiers are carring? If the quality is there let me know. I know that Hakko was the original maker of the Nightforce scopes, so quality should have been there, but did it stay when Shepard bought out the Nightforce line?

I think they're a perfect example of the 80/20 rule (80% of the quality is covered by the first 20% of the cost and the last 20% of the qualtiy is 80% of the cost).

I got a couple based on the field reviews at FALFiles and have found them to be good for several hundred rounds now on AKs, ARs, FMFALs, M1A. They just may be 80% as good as the quality of the Aimpoint, but I wouldn't trust them to be 100% water proof or quite as rugged. Of course for almost a third the price I don't expect to get 100% of the Aimpoint.

I usually see them online between $100-$110. $130 is too much IMO. Shop around and you might even be able to find one below 100.

Hakko

So $70.00 shipped to my door would be good? Because thets the deal that is pending. Now I need rings that will co-witness to the flat top (I don't have yet) and the CHEAP carry handle scout mount I currently have. Any ideas?

If it's not too late, consider the Tacpoint 2. It uses two Weaver rings instead of one.

Sorry I missed this thread before you ordered. There are still a couple places that have the original Japanese made TacPoints as opposed to the newer Chinese built BlueRing model. I picked up a Japanese version some time ago for $119 for my Bushy 16" H bar CAR. I`m really happy with it so far. The flip up caps are cheap but the rest of the optic is very nicely made for the money. Marcus
