Gunnison National Forest - GMU 55!!

Leaving on the Thursday the 19th - was just up there this weekend for the 4th scouting trip of the year. Elk doing as expected - still up high. Very light dusting of snow up on the peaks.

JohnDog <- Already has most gear laid out in the family room!! Is it the 19th yet???

Taking off 10/20 early AM for a week +. Wife's got a cow tag & me = for de bulls + an antlered deer tag.

First time out elkin' for The Wife - should be a hoot & wish we'd start getting some
good deep snow. About two days before our hunt would be just about right.

Fun stuff!

I'll be approximately 8.5 miles southwest of Wolf Creek Pass from 11/04/00 through 11/12/00. A cow and a buck are on my agenda, and hopefully my menue, this year.

Will be hunting in Units 44 and 444 Oct. 21 to 27. Still no snow to speak of but that may change this weekend. Bow hunter friends say the elk are thick but will be fairly scattered by the time rifle seasons start. Your best bet is to get away from roads and high as possable. If that doesn't work try lower in the PJ's where there is water. It's been a real dry year and water is not always where it used to be. Good Luck.
