2 3/4" shotshell in a 3" Mod?
Im a bit new to shotguning and have a rossi 12GA break down single shot. I was wondering if its ok to use 2 3/4" shotshells in a 3" modified choke gun.

Shorter shells will work. On any barrel, the chamber length should be marked. If it says for 2 3/4" only, no 3" or 3.5". If it says 3", 2 3/4" shells will work also.
The big 3.5", same same. In your Rossi, I vehemently recommend 2 3/4" LIGHT loads. The little singles like yours are very light, and mag loads will tear you a new one if your fit and form aren't up to par. HTH.... |

I'm much smaller than you and fired half a box of Remington High-Velocity Magnum Turkey Loads from a 6-7lb. single-shot New England Pardner (with Pachmayr slip-on recoil pad) that had an estimated recoil energy of around 55 ft. lbs. Certainly noticeable, but nothing too brutal. |

Clone, enough. With good form and fit, no pain.

thx again for the info. i think ill get a http://www.rossiusa.com/products/RecoilPadDetail.cfm for the rossi. better to spend $10 on a recoil pad and enjoy the shooting than have a bruised shoulder.
