light 7mm rem mag for pa deer
My older half brother's father who died of a heart attack while deer hunting with us after shooting an eight point near Kane PA use to self load light rounds for his custom 7mm rem mag for pa white tails. The rifle is built on a custom wood stock, sako action, and a lathed barrel.
Any suggestions or recipe's for a good light load for deer would be very helpful. Or some suggestions or reviews on 7mm rem mag light factory ammo. |

Favorite 7mm load for whitetails
I use 120 grain nosler balistic tips backed by 65 grains of IMR 4350. This load is 3200 FPS and will make a whitetail sick in a hurry. Good to 400 yards or more if adjusted for drop.
Leaves a blood trail that is very easy to follow. The one I hit low in the chest blazed a trail of red 3 feet wide for 30 yards. In fact my hunting buddy was joking that this shoud have been easy to track and it was. I watcjhed him run and fall from the tree stand. |
