Am leaving for southern Africa in the AM. Will, hopefully, return & regale anyone who'll listen with tales of good times & good hunting.

Erick

Murderer! Murderer! Murderer!

Why don't you let me come along and shoot them instead? You'll sleep better that way.

I'm sitting in a deep, verdant pool of envy.

I believe I'll wallow now.

Don't be envious Ipecac, they don't have any decent beer in Africa, he won't have any nice squishy muskeg to set up his tent in and he probably won't know the joy of huddling around a sterno stove sharing the last half-pint of whiskey during a three day sleet storm!

He'll probably come back and try to put a good face on it, but deep down he'll have that aching, empty feeling because he'll KNOW that splendid hunting without misery is just splendid hunting.
Hhmmmm, let me rephrase that - misery builds character! Yeah!

I have returned, okay, I got back last night after a too long plane flight. I'll taking these in reverse order...

The beer- Yup cheaper than water, but the Rhodesian, er, Zimbabwe Castle Lager wasn't bad at all. Enjoyed it, even though I prefer hefeweissen.

On misery, you know, I did miss that. Very, very little to be miserable amount. We did huddle around the fire pit in the morning - to plan the day and again at night to discuss it. Does that count?

Murderer? Yup, twas premeditated. I couldn't have invited you Gary, as I was the invited along one on this trip. Folks, if that invitation ever comes, jump on it. I am so happy that I did.

Have I put a good enough face on it for now?

Check 6,
Erick
