After all, if it wasn't for a couple of articles he wrote, I wouldn't have completely changed my view of fighting an M4 carbine. That alone was worth the price of admission.
S.W.A.T. Magazine presents "The Book of the M4" by Pat Rogers

Wouldn't that be a great read.

Pat's said before that he's too busy to think about writing right now. But if S.W.A.T. were to simply assemble his various articles (something like what Louis Awerbuck did), they'd have a hit on their hands. Just as with Louis.

Louis' books were published by Paladin.

While I don't rule it out in future, SWAT is not in the book publishing business.

Okay- how about a Pat Rogers Annual Rich?
It could be titled "The Ultimate Book of No-BS Gun Writing".

David-
It may be doable in a PDF version. Separate print publication? We'd need far more than the 50-60K dyed-in-the-wool PR Fans out there.

Holy crap! You mean we might have suggested something that's doable!? How did we get something constructive in a thread?! Stop it before it spreads!!!

David's idea was actually where I was going rather than a book.

Rich if the PDF of all the M4 articles is doable count me in for one. I assume we are talking about a download from the SWAT website at a set fee?

garrett-
Yes, it would be a separate production. Having thought this over a bit, I have a real problem with these types of one-offs; from a business perspective only.

Pat's a headliner at SWAT. When we start parting out the books, we really diminish the incentive to subscribe. I don't need to make a lot of money at this project, but 'm not about to turn it back to the red.

Each of the issues that Pat has been in are available from the Web Site for $4.99 PDF; $6.99 Print. These are hardly wallet-breaking prices.

So, I'm inclined not to proceed.

Rich, I fully understand the need to take care of the business side of things and how you came to your point of view.

You gave my concerns a fair hearing, careful consideration, and ultimately made a decision that best served the organization as a whole. I find no fault with that.

You have my respect and my thanks for your valuable time.

Now on to some browsing at SWAT.com

Well, it is understandable for the reasons you stated Rich but somewhat sad none the less

Buzz- we almost had a good idea going.

Latest Issue

I just picked up the latest issue of S.W.A.T magazine and I am still reading the contents. Let me say that this is one of the best magazines I have found. I am going to subscribe. To the editors of this great magazine. Outstanding job.

Yeah, David. The saddest words are "it could have been." Actually, the saddest words are "I don't want to go out with you" from the girl of your dreams but still, this is close.

I'd love to finish the book (i've finished appx 3/4 of it 3x in the past- but new TTP's have burst through and work has been occupying most of my time).
I have received offers from publishing companies, but i have not accepted them for a variety of reasons.

I've eliminated some of my contracts- getting rid those that are less productive or just plain aggravating, so maybe i can get the time available to actually finish it.

Thanks for the support- i really appreciate it.

Pat, best wishes with your book. Your wisdom gained through your vast experience should be codified.

Hope you continue to instruct as well. Some of us need the help--"Kirk, &*%^$#@, look at your *&^%#@ frontsight!"

I am from NY- four letter words are healthy words. They add appropropriate emphasis...

Looking forward to seeing you in July!
