Scoping a m48

I am interested in the best method to get a scope on your mauser m48. I heard much about drilling and tapping. Anybody have any suggestions to get this done? i heard a bunch about weavers and some other brands, along with maybe needing extra high rings? let me know the best and cheapest way to do this. Thanks
