40 S&W Win 231 or Titegroup load help.
I need a load that gets about 900 to 1000 FPS
with a 155 LSWC in 40 S&W. Can it be done? My loading manuals don't cover this. |

Most of my .40 loads are with 180's.
I haven't tried 231 in .40 at all or titegroup with lead bullets as I can't find data either. I can't find my chrono book right now, but with- Bear Creek 155gr LSWC AA#5 7.0gr I got from 960-980 fps from three different guns. Para-Ordnance P-16 LTD, Glock 22 Bar-Sto barrel (these usually run within 10 fps or so of each other) and S&W 610 3 7/8" which is usually slower but was really close with this load. Accurate #1 manual lists AA#5 from 6.8 to 7.5gr with a 155 LSWC at 1019 to 1158 fps Lyman 48th edition lists: 150gr cast lead bullet 231) 5.5-6.5gr at 1079-1195 fps AA#5) 6.3-7.5gr at 969-1195 fps no loads listed for titegroup. |
