How to evaluate a used shotgun

Can anyone tell me how to evaluate a used shotgun? Please keep in mind that I have little to no experience with shotguns so I may not understand all of the terminology. If someone could describe to me how and what to look for I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your help,

Drivie

Sorry, I was talking on the phone when I created the post. I'm looking at a 12 gauge Remington 870 Wingmaster.

Thanks!

Thanks Dave,

Could you point me at the thread? I did a search and could not find the exact thread you are referring to (I think)...

Thanks!
